Supercharge Lab looks toward the future in the month of May, and our first order of business is to look inward – what does the future hold for humanityHow can we keep up with the changes to come and remain relevant in a world of accelerating change? How do we ensure that we are future-proofing ourselves?

For starters, with most of us spending at least a third of our days at work, it is important to understand how the workplace is evolving.

In a report by PwC, many millennials today worry about automation putting their jobs at risk, and a majority of them are ready to learn new skills or re-train to remain employable in the future. That said, most members of today’s workforce do not believe that technology can replace the human mind, despite accelerating growth in the development of Superintelligences.

The truth is, I started Supercharge Lab with the intent to make work better, and to help humans drive value to organizations, stakeholders, and society through optimizing human behavior. I have long believed that high-performance behaviors when practiced often enough will lead to new skills, which drive competencies, and then change – change for the better

Future-Proofing Ourselves at Supercharge Lab

The past weeks at Supercharge Lab have been ones of change – not just “happy” change, but also difficult and painful change. But our growth as a company and as individuals that form a nucleus is predicated on embracing discomfort, at pushing against our limits, and claiming the space of who we want to be.

The future of work will be different, it will be one where deliberate, careful thought into innovation, analysis, and complex problem solving would drive outcomes in the workplace. It will be one where survival can depend on knowing what is important to the emerging new class of Gen-Z customers, and where connecting to a massive audience with the right message at the right time can take place on a personalized basis. It will be one where conscious capitalism will become the norm, where an ethical moral compass and sustainable business practice are no longer fancy words that we pay lip service to, but entrenched within organizations, and where caring for each other is something that we all embrace as drops in the same ocean.

And while it all seems like the future is one full of fear and anxiety, what with technical singularity and the encroachment of our lives by big corporates, it is also one full of hope for humanity – a future where the good of humanity can shine through.

As Steve Jobs famously said, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
